Media technology has developed drastically throughout the years. The role of media has also evolved as the society developed. Many innovations and inventions have been created throughout the era to simplify the way of communicating. Devices such as telephones, pagers, cell phones, radio, television and smartphones are very popular in disseminating information.
With the existence of BlackBerry, specifically its special feature BlackBerry Messenger, students in President University, especially Public Relations students, tend to use this medium very often in order to communicate with fellow students and staff members. In time, with the high intensity of using this medium, the way students communicate would change unwittingly because students would become too dependent using this medium. Students would tend to choose to communicate through BlackBerry Messenger instead of any other media. The objective of this research is to find if there is a correlation between the intensity of using BlackBerry Messenger and the degree of dependency on this particular medium. The research problem is to find if there is any significant correlation between the intensity of using BlackBerry Messenger and the degree of dependency on the medium among President University students, especially to Public Relation students. To answer the research problem, the researcher uses quantitative research method. Questionnaires were used as the tool to collect the data needed from the respondents of sixty. To find out the answer to the problem raised in this research, the researcher used several theories to analyze the data gathered. The theory that the researcher used to analyze and describe this social phenomenon is Media System Dependency Theory and Media Ecology Theory is used as a supporting theory.
Using Spearman Rank-Order Correlation, the researcher calculated the correlation coefficient to be 0.439, which concluded that there is a correlation between the intensity of using BlackBerry Messenger and the degree of dependency on this particular medium.

This thesis was conducted to investigate the uses of internet base of social media and website as a tool for UNIC-Jakarta to spread the information toward public. In writing this thesis, the research question is followed that how does UNIC-Jakarta as the secretariat of the United Nations use internet-based social media as instrument to provide information to the public about the United Nations information.
For the research, qualitative method is used in this study. Related to the method, theories, and literature review, the researcher are doing in-depth interview with four participants which are staff and interns who are working in UNIC-Jakarta. The interview runs to find out the uses of social media in UNIC-Jakarta.
Nowadays, social media is really well-developing in the world, many people use social media on daily basis. Social media is always improving and developing their features and variety of the programs to be better, and they also release or make many kinds of social media today. Social media and websites help people to communicate with each other with some tools to do it. It helps organizations in this world to promote, to give information, to persuade, to sell and buy merchandise through the internet.
The result in this study showed the development of social media influence in UNIC-Jakarta’s works as the international organization. They realized the significant roles of social media sites in communication.

THE EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATION: A CASE STUDY OF UMANG ISLAND RESORT

This research was being conducted because the researcher found something run poorly during the observation in Umang Island Resort. In order to investigate the barriers that hinder the effective employee communication problems and also to get more inputs about hotelier, the researcher has used qualitative research method. In this process to solve the problem, the company tried to make a change, and it worked, the problem stopped working, unfortunately the changes didn’t run smoothly, and it caused some new problems.
Actually the biggest problem came from the human resource itself whereby they don’t really know how to treat and to talk with someone. They came from the local people that should be employed. The manners, awareness and responsibility from them were not as good as the well educated people from Jakarta.
The result bought some impact to the service that was hard to be accepted by the guest, because it didn’t run smooth and has caused quite major guest’s complains.

PT. Lippo Cikarang, Tbk merupakan perusahaan yang berdiri awal tahun 1990 dan sahamnya telah tercatat di PT. Bursa Efek Indonesia (d/l: Bursa Efek Jakarta) dengan mengusung misi “Menjadi pengembang kawasan perkotaan berbasis industri, komersial dan residensial terkemuka di Indonesia, melalui investasi di bidang infrastruktur, fasilitas publik dan perangkat manajemen perkotaan, untuk mempertahankan pangsa pasar, nilai tambah, marjin tinggi dan daya saing yang kuat dalam bisnis”. Persaingan ketat dalam dunia usaha bidang properti dan industri mendorong perusahaan untuk senantiasa menjaga citra di mata publik. Hal ini dilakukan dengan strategi-strategi tertentu, salah satunya adalah melalui Program Penghijauan berkala, Mini Nursery Program yang dilaksanakan pertama kali pada periode tahun 2009-2010. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan program tersebut sebagai salah satu strategi Public Relations perusahaan dan hambatan-hambatan yang ditemui pada realisasi awal program.
Menurut teori, salah satu strategi komunikasi yang dapat dilakukan oleh Public Relations adalah melalui publicity untuk mendapatkan public awareness, understanding and concern. Teori ini kemudian menjadi dasar untuk melakukan penelitian yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan metodologi penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Pengumpulan data utama dilakukan dengan in-depth interview terhadap empat narasumber yang kompeten dan memiliki kredibilitas.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pelaksanaan Mini Nursery Program 2010 sebagai salah satu strategi Public Relations berjalan dengan baik dan bermanfaat bagi peserta program dan bagi perusahaan. Beberapa kendala yang ditemui selama pelaksanaan program dinilai tidak mempengaruhi pelaksanaan program secara signifikan. Diharapkan program ini dapat berlanjut secara berkala, sehingga memberi semakin banyak manfaat bagi banyak pihak.
