<description>IMPROVING WAREHOUSE DESIGN OF ENJOY MART BY USING SYSTEMATIC LAYOUT PLANNING
Nainggolan, Indriawan
Enjoy mart, is a retail of grocery products as well as home cares products. As any other retail, Enjoy mart operations are similar, it has a self-service system, where the material flow comes from the warehouse to store when the items in store runs out. The retail needs to be supported by a warehouse, to store the inventory of merchandise sold. But the warehouse currently was not arranged according to layout principal design. This has contributed to low efficiency of the warehouse. The space available was 72 m2 but the unused space was 32%. Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) was implemented to redesign the layout. With the principle of Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) and Activity Relationship Diagram (ARD) the layout was rearranged. The results have helped to rearrange the Enjoy mart warehouse. The redesign of layout has increased the efficiency of the space from 68% to 97%. Furthermore, the new layout arrangement may accommodate for new product or expansion of the layout for 52%. In addition, the action plan to support the warehouse tidiness, so the workers can easily store and pick the items needed.
