<title>EUROVISION SONG CONTEST AS A FORM OF CULTURAL DIPLOMACY BY EUROPEAN COUNTRIES</title>
<link>http://repository.president.ac.id/xmlui/handle/123456789/12549</link>
<description>EUROVISION SONG CONTEST AS A FORM OF CULTURAL DIPLOMACY BY EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
Ryananta, Rahadyan Naratama
This final project paper aims to research the situation in which the concept of Cultural&#13;
Diplomacy plays a part in a music contest, in particular the Eurovision Song Contest (or&#13;
ESC), an international music competition that has long been held since 1956 mainly&#13;
between European countries. New reports in 2022 suggest that the Eurovision Song&#13;
Contest brought a huge impact towards the social, economic, cultural and of course,&#13;
musical impact on and off screen, particularly to the European countries participating in&#13;
the song contest. ESC is a program under an institution called European Broadcasting&#13;
Union (or EBU) and is not related to the cultural policies of the European Union, but it&#13;
also shows that the song contest can be some of the ways of cultural diplomacy practices&#13;
that has been long running until now.&#13;
&#13;
This paper will discuss if Eurovision was created to build a positive image, because as&#13;
the initial intention of creating this contest was so that the countries in Europe could unite&#13;
in togetherness on the sidelines of the war that befell Europe at that time. It will also&#13;
argue whether the creation of the Song Contest itself is effective and will list all the effects&#13;
of ESC in the context of cultural diplomacy in Europe.&#13;
&#13;
Soft Power through Cultural Diplomacy will be used as a theoretical framework to&#13;
support this paper. The method used in this paper will be both quantitative and&#13;
qualitative, with quantitative data taken from Eurovision Song Contest Brand Impact&#13;
Report 2022 (published by the European Broadcasting Union’s Media Intelligence&#13;
Service, produced by Matthieu Rawolle &amp; Francesca Cimino) and qualitative data taken&#13;
from journals and web articles from official sources.

<description>ASEAN-CHINA STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: LAOS-CHINA RAILWAY (LCR)
Kaemong, Maria Blandina
This paper aims to analyze the strategic relationship between the Association of Southeast&#13;
Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the People's Republic of China (PRC) in pursuing&#13;
sustainable infrastructure and economic development, and how the two sides have&#13;
cooperated and expanded mutual assistance. This paper focuses on the case study of the&#13;
Laos-China Railway (LCR) which connects the capital city of Lao Vientiane with the&#13;
provincial capital of China Kunming. In Here we will also discuss the potential gained by&#13;
both parties, such as; what is the impact of implementing the Belt and Road Initiative&#13;
(BRI) Program on infrastructure development in ASEAN especially in Laos and also how&#13;
China will benefit economically from implementing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)&#13;
Program in ASEAN particularly in Laos, which is one of the major programs of the Belt&#13;
and Road Initiative (BRI) that was completed and put into operation in 2021. In addition,&#13;
we will also explore the potential risks that can arise from the Belt and Road Initiative&#13;
(BRI) program for Laos-China Railway (LCR) project.

<title>UNVEILING THE CONSEQUENCES: EXAMINING THE EFFECT OF BELO MONTE DAM CONSTRUCTION ON THE FULFILMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS TO WATER</title>
<link>http://repository.president.ac.id/xmlui/handle/123456789/12547</link>
<description>UNVEILING THE CONSEQUENCES: EXAMINING THE EFFECT OF BELO MONTE DAM CONSTRUCTION ON THE FULFILMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS TO WATER
Sulistyawati, Izza
The present study examines the effects of the development of the Belo Monte Dam in Brazil on&#13;
the fulfilment of the human right to water for the nearby populace. The Belo Monte Dam&#13;
Complex, consisting of three separate dams and two reservoirs, is a significant component of&#13;
Brazil's Growth Acceleration Program aimed at promoting economic growth and providing clean&#13;
and affordable energy. However, concerns are raised regarding the project's ability to meet its&#13;
goals, particularly in terms of water and electric supply throughout the year. Furthermore, the&#13;
paper discusses the adverse effects of the dam on the surrounding populations and the&#13;
environment. Scholars contend that the initiative has resulted in elevated emissions, compelled&#13;
the relocation of numerous people and produced adverse effects on the terrain and sustenance of&#13;
both native and urban communities. The potential loss of agricultural output, deterioration of&#13;
water quality, and threats to human rights are also highlighted. The study focuses on the&#13;
violations of the human right to water caused by large-scale infrastructure projects and the&#13;
heated discussions surrounding the development of the Belo Monte Dam. By addressing these&#13;
issues, the paper sheds light on the broader implications for local communities and their access&#13;
to water resources in the context of such projects.

<title>SOCIAL MEDIA AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN ADVOCACY THROUGH THE SUCCESS OF #BLACKLIVESMATTER</title>
<link>http://repository.president.ac.id/xmlui/handle/123456789/12546</link>
<description>SOCIAL MEDIA AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN ADVOCACY THROUGH THE SUCCESS OF #BLACKLIVESMATTER
Riyanto, Julius Gloriozo
This paper investigates the utilization of social media by the African American Movement, specifically&#13;
focusing on the #BlackLivesMatter movement, to advocate for human rights. The study explores the&#13;
impact of social media within the past 10 years, coinciding with the transition from Barack Obama's&#13;
presidency to Donald Trump's. It aims to determine whether the shift from an African American&#13;
president to a white president has influenced the movement's use of social media. The paper&#13;
acknowledges certain limitations, including the narrow timeframe and the focus solely on&#13;
#BlackLivesMatter, which may not represent all African American social movements. Additionally, the&#13;
study focuses exclusively on social media usage within the United States, without exploring its impact&#13;
on the African American movement outside the country. The research relies on publicly available data&#13;
from Twitter gathered in 2020 by PEW researchers, primarily examining personal social media usage&#13;
rather than that of communities or corporations. It acknowledges that there may be inaccessible private&#13;
groups and communities on social media, potentially limiting the representation of findings. Despite&#13;
these limitations, the study offers valuable insights into the role of social media in the African American&#13;
Movement's advocacy for human rights and its relationship with the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
