Exhaust fan as one of the common electrical appliance that widely used for home and industry, is mostly still operated manually. However, this condition can be modified into automatic operated by adding processor unit and also several supporting electrical components. Automatic in this project means exhaust fan can operate in different levels of power, based on sensor TGS 2600 reading. However, the range of sensor reading is decided manualy. In order to control and to process, microcontroller AT89S52 is utilized both in hardware and software to be able to control the fan, as the load. To limit amount of electric source supplied to the load, triac is used as high speed switching device. Zero crossing detector will be required in AC volage controller to obtain ideal range of triac firing, by pulsing each time AC wave form hit zero point. Since the load is AC sourced, the suitable theory that used is phase control using triac, or also called phas firing angle. The result of this project is obtained by comparing collected data with calculation; however, there is deviation between calculated result practical result. On the other hand, the load is responding very well toward sensor reading. By controlling its voltage, it means power consumed also reduces which directly contributes to energy saving and efficiency.

Ever since its first development, Fuzzy Logic Controllers have been popular among the practitioner due to its robustness, interpretability, and especially its ability to handle the imprecision.  Many constructions of these controllers are still heavily dependent on the presence of experts’ knowledge.  This drawback has been investigated by many researchers, resulting in several methods integrated into the construction of fuzzy logic controller. This final project is another attempt of the author to present a method to generate fuzzy logic controller with the minimum involvement of experts by integrating Genetic Algorithm into the design process. A series of simulations using different models are also conducted to test the method.

Manual switching is not efficient way for future people living, it waste time and in some cases it does not safe for the user. The main objective of this project is to give easiness life for people using automatic lamp switch. The usage of Passive Infrared Sensor to sensing surrounding area to detect and determine the next action. Passive Infrared is not emit any wave but only receive infrared change radiation, so that sensor will not disturb human activity. This device using microcontroller AT89S52 as main processor and it is equipped by timer. This timer will be utilizing in the device to set time interval. Time interval is time period which allowed sensor will not detect anything during lamp stay on. This timer will avoid lamp for blinking due to crowded people in a room. User can input time interval using keypad and it will be displayed on LCD 16x2.

In this globalization era, many people get used to live in hectic situation. When they get up in the morning, people usually rush to their office or to the place where they do their activity. People tend to forget to lock the door.Even when one remember to lock the door, he or she may forget where the key is.As we know, the globalization era is in line with the rapid technology development. This phenomenon results in the behavior of people that they tend to find the instant way in fulfilling their needs. This instant way is meant to make people’s live easier. Nowadays, Speech Recognition technology is utilized to improve the&#13;
security. From these points of view, the idea to design and to implement an “Automatic Door Lock with Speech Recognition“ came up.This final project concentrates in designing the hardware and the software that will work as an integrated system of automatic door lock, equipped with a speech recognition device. Through this function, the user will be able to record his or her voice in the form of short words. After the recording, the door will be lock and in order to open it, the user must say the same word as whatalready recorded before. The combination of automatic door lock and speech recognition are meant to work&#13;
together.
