Abstract:
Decision making has become one of the habits of people. Almost every day,
people decide the best choice based on their goals. However, people sometimes face
difficulties during the decision-making process. Either people are confuse on choosing
two choices or even more. In this technology era, decision-making has been facilitated
through a diverse selection of technologies. With the technologies, people does not have
to spend a lot of time to decide the best choice for them. A system named Decision
Support System is one of the way to help decision-makers decide the best choice. To
developed a Decision Support System, several methods are needed to assist the decision making
process. Hence, methods for decision-making process are explored and
evaluated.
This thesis proposes an optimized hybrid process of the Analytic Hierarchy
Process with the Simple Additive Weighting method for hotel decision-making. The main
advantage of the proposed methods is able to compare the importance of each criterion,
establish the weight value of each attribute, and use a ranking procedure to choose the
best option from a list of alternatives, this study is important as many sectors including
tourism are striving in the post-pandemic era. The proposed hypothesis is proven through
a study case of hotel selection which included four factors for the criteria in decision making,
namely price, facilities, class, and location. The supported literature review on
the topic described both methods are still widely used for the decision-making process.
This study critically analyzed the importance of the selected factors. The superiority of
this approach is to measure the validity by considering the depreciated value. To validate
our findings, a group of sampling is done by performing the hybrid methods. Calculated
results revealed that the proposed methods can achieve the decision-making process, the
hybrid AHP – SAW model was found to be an effective method for assessing the hotel
selection process.
