ANDROID-BASED PARENTAL CONTROL APPLICATION USING BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION

Abstract

Children tends to have a high curiosity towards something new. Everyday they need to play with something interesting because it’s their characteristic. In this era, many parents give their phone to their child since it’s easy to make them quiet. However, if they let their child use phone without any control, it can go badly. The methodology used to develop the application is Rapid Application Development (RAD). RAD methodology is used to minimize planning stage and maximize the prototype stage which can bring greater efficiency and faster development of the application. This thesis will propose a mobile application for controlling their children so they are protected from bad influence and can not do something to parent’s data. Parent can decide which application that their children can use. Parent also can set the timer for their children when using their phone. The system uses biometric authentication to use the account, with this system, children can not open the phone without parent’s permission. Future work that can be improved to the application and the system by implementing this application on iOS platform.
