dc.description.abstract This thesis delves into the development of SignMate, a comprehensive web-based platform designed to revolutionize the way individuals learn sign language. The project tackles key functional areas, including sign language understanding, engaging learning modules, user-friendly interfaces, progress monitoring, data analysis, and continuous improvement. The solution selection process involved a careful evaluation of three alternatives: a web-based platform, a virtual reality application, and a web discussion forum. Ultimately, the web-based platform was chosen due to its accessibility and scalability. SignMate's specifications encompass its core functionalities, such as captivating learning materials, interactive practice modules, and user competency assessments. These features are tailored to diverse user characteristics while considering hardware, software, and connectivity constraints. The design phase utilized a systematic approach, meticulously comparing quantitative and qualitative metrics to refine the chosen solution. The implementation details reveal the intricate coding and functional integration of SignMate's various components, including user authentication, dashboard management, quiz creation and evaluation, an American Sign Language (ASL) dictionary, ASL history, and blog content management. Each component was painstakingly coded and explained to ensure clarity and functionality, reflecting the team's dedication to delivering a seamless user experience. Thorough testing was conducted, focusing on non-functional specifications such as security, compatibility, and usability, with empirical validation through recorded tests. The results of these rigorous evaluations affirm that SignMate is indeed a robust, user-friendly platform capable of enhancing sign language education. In conclusion, this thesis presents SignMate as an innovative and practical approach to sign language learning, supported by comprehensive design, implementation, and testing methodologies. The team's meticulous efforts have paved the way for a transformative educational experience, one that holds the promise of empowering individuals and fostering greater inclusivity in the world of communication. en_US
