Abstract:
Dormitory management in educational institutions often faces challenges due to
manual and fragmented systems, leading to inefficient handling of student affairs and
facility maintenance. This project introduces DORMS (Dormitory Operational Reporting
and Maintenance System), a centralized web-based platform designed to improve
operational workflows and user experience within a dormitory environment. Developed
using Laravel and tailored for three distinct user roles—admin, technician, and resident.
Beyond facility management, the system includes a Meal Feedback Module,
offering residents a channel to rate and review meals, thus encouraging continuous
improvement in service quality. Another key feature is the Student Point Tracking
Module, which records student disciplinary points and their reasons, visible to both
students and parents, ensuring transparency and promoting behavioral awareness.
Additionally, a Leave Request feature empowers parents to submit permission letters
digitally for their children’s absences, aligning with institutional policy that requires
parent-initiated requests.
By replacing conventional reporting methods such as logbooks and verbal
communication with a structured and traceable system, DORMS addresses
communication gaps, enhances data accuracy, and supports better decision-making by
dormitory managers. The project demonstrates how tailored technology solutions can
transform traditional administrative processes into efficient and user-friendly systems,
ultimately contributing to a more responsive and well-managed dormitory environment.
