Development of Web-Based "Oleh-Oleh Bekasi" E-Commerce Application

Abstract

Bekasi is one of the cities currently growing as a city of trade, services, and industry. Inevitably it attracts a lot of migrants to stay in Bekasi. The local community should utilize this condition to promote traditional products of Bekasi. However, the business that sells traditional products of Bekasi only available in certain stores. So it would be difficult for the public to find it if they did not know the location of the store, especially for the migrants. Besides of that situation, the development of online shopping trends is increasingly in demand by the public. Business owners must have couragement to make innovations by utilizing online shopping platforms to maintain the existence of traditional products Bekasi. The purpose of this thesis is to build a website-based e-commerce application as a platform for trading activities through online transactions. Web-based e-commerce application creation is built using Rapid Application Development (RAD) as a method of designing system models, PHP programming languages, and MySQL as databases. The result of the design of this e-commerce application is used to buy and sell online activities, especially selling traditional food, beverage, and handicrafts typical of Bekasi. So, through this e-commerce website, Bekasi's characteristics stay awake in this era of technological development hopefully.
