dc.description.abstract In this modern era technology is one of the greatest inventions that human ever develop to make human life more comfortable. A smart home is a device that works by itself without human intervention. With smart home implementation, a human can control and monitor the device from everywhere. This thesis will develop a prototype of a smart home in a security system called gate opener application that involves machine learning, mobile applications to control the gate, and a prototype to simulate the gate. This application feature will include three main programs to run the face recognition, the process in creating dataset, process for training and face recognition. Face recognition is use to recognize the image from a camera that was shown in the webcam that will be used in mobile application security and gate security, the mobile application that connected to wireless connection to control the gate using four buttons and one voice button to interact with the gate. The face recognition is used in this implementation in aim to simplify and improve the effectiveness of the gate opener application. en_US
