KOREAN POP CULTURE ENTERTAINMENTS FOR ANDROID BASED MOBILE APPLICATION

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, the entry of foreign culture is inevitable. Popular culture began to develop in Indonesia since the mass media developed rapidly and became increasingly popular. One of the popular culture that is in great demand by the world community today is Korean pop culture or commonly known as the Korean Wave (also known as "Hallyu" in Korean). The Korean Wave phenomenon has quickly spread to all corners of the world including Indonesia, giving rise to fan groups who are interested in Korean pop culture in the form of music, TV dramas, films, food, fashion, and many more. Due to the same enjoyment of Korean pop culture, not a few Indonesians from all walks of life want to spread content in various formats, for those who want to stay up to date on the latest news or for new fans who want to find out more information related to Korean pop culture via social media easily. Therefore, the author wants to gather Korean pop culture enthusiasts who are spread across Indonesia by creating a mobile-based application for Android that is devoted to Korean pop culture content as a place to express creatively.
