AUTO SCORING MULTIPLE CHOICE ANSWER SHEET WITH OMR IMAGE PROCESSING IN AN ANDROID APPLICATION

Abstract

Written test is an important tool for competence measurement and evaluation either in academic or industrial context. Not only in Indonesia but also throughout the world, multiple choice question has become an integral part of educational system. Multiple choice usually uses as part of the written test where the students who sit on the test are asked to select a correct answer out of choices in a list. It is used to evaluate student’s academic performance. One of the advantages of multiple choice is it takes less time in the checking process and the possibility to be automated especially for a large number of examinees. The availability of smartphones with integrated camera opens the possibility to create a cheaper solution in auto grading these answer sheets and saving their time. It becomes the motivation of this project to implement an Android application based on automated scoring that is more accessible especially for education institutions. There will be no extra cost using this smartphone-based solution. It is very easy to use without lot of steps or setup.
