DESIGNING EXPORT PROJECT INVENTORY INFORMATION SYSTEM USING SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE METHODOLOGY AT CAR MANUFACTURING WAREHOUSE

Abstract

The inventory information system is a system that manages the entire stock of goods and tracks the goods flow. PT. AB is the third party of a car manufacturing company that manages the warehouse and logistics. PT. AB has a new project called Export Project. In this project, the company will export car components to Sri Lanka to be assembled there. Unfortunately, the current inventory system on the Export Project is still poor. The company does not have a system that tracks parts availability. Besides that, input data takes a long time, and sometimes the user needs to come home late. Therefore, an inventory information system is designed to solve problems in the current system. This research chose the System Development Life Cycle or SDLC method because it is the most common method for designing a system and is easy to apply. MS Access will be used to develop a new system to replace MS Excel. MS Access is the best choice to track and record data regularly and display export or print subsets of that data. The proposed system simplifies the inventory teamwork so that the working time used is reduced by 91.68%.
