PT.K manufactures some Epson sparepart. Finished goods are stored in several
warehouses. Warehouse 003 that store Epson spare parts that consist of 30 types. Each
sparepart is stored in boxes and stacked in several pallets. The problem that is often faced
by PT.K is the flow of finished products that in and out the warehouse is not well
coordinated. The company has no arrangement regarding the current product layout to
manage the storage position and the preparation of those products consequently.
Therefore it is necessary to re-layout the problems faced by PT.K with the
implementation of dedicated storage method. The dedicated storage method puts the
product together by placing one product in a single storage location. The objective of this
research is to calculate the total distance of material handling at the current condition,
calculate the total distance of material handling at proposed condition 1, calculate the
total distance decrease material handling that occurs when a dedicated storage method is
applied. The result of the implementation of dedicated for proposed 1 of 103,844.7761 m
distance has a difference of 15,845.6872 m from the distance in current conditions that is
119,690.4633 m with a percentage reduction of 13%. |
