A waste bank is a place where valuable recyclable and reusable materials are
systematically sorted and stored for economic and environmental benefits. Waste banks
have expanded significantly across Indonesia since their initial establishment by Bambang
Suwerdain in 2008 in Kabupaten Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The concept has
gained widespread attention due to its environmental and economic benefits, attracting
strong community participation. Reports indicate that by 2018, Indonesia had
approximately 8,036 waste banks in operation [1]
.
The Waste Bank Android Mobile Application is an innovative digital platform
designed to enhance waste management and promote environmental sustainability. It
allows users to efficiently track, sort, and schedule the disposal of recyclable materials
while ensuring eco-friendly waste handling. Key features of the application include
accessing a directory of waste banks, arranging waste collection appointments, and
modifying pickup schedules as needed.
This final project focuses on developing a waste bank application designed to assist
waste banks in optimizing their operations. The application streamlines the process of
waste collection and recycling by enabling users to easily find nearby waste collection
centers and monitor their recycling activities. Additionally, it strengthens local waste
management initiatives by offering an efficient and structured system for waste disposal,
ultimately minimizing landfill accumulation and environmental pollution |
