THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ANTHROPOMETRY AND ERGONOMIC PRINCIPLE ON DESIGNING WORKPLACE IN FINAL INSPECTION

Abstract

Having productivity is certainly a desire for all industries, especially automotive component industry. However, some issues often interfere in having productivity. One of the issues is musculoskeletal disorders. The musculoskeletal disorders are experienced because there is no fitness between workplace and operators. It is discovered when analyzing musculoskeletal discomforts, current postures, and current lighting system. In examining musculoskeletal discomforts, musculoskeletal discomforts are identified by applying Nordic Body Map Questionnaire. In reviewing current postures, Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) is employed. In studying current lighting system, current lighting system is compared with theoretical lighting system. One alternative solution is created after musculoskeletal discomforts, current postures, and current lighting system have been evaluated. The solution is to design the workplace which is suitable for all operators by utilizing anthropometry and ergonomic principle. New workplace design is expected to maximize fitness between workplace and operators.
