Indonesia is a developed country. Majority, people live with their low economic. Some poor families send their children who are still in school to work. The phenomenon of working children is called child labor. There are some sectors of child labour, such as agricultural, housework, mining, manufacturing, and informal work. In Indonesia, children labour as a housemaid are much requested. The phenomenon of child labour as a housemaid is the biggest sector from child labour. These children are protected by LawNumber 23 Year 2002. The regulation made by state is good enough but law officers do not do their roles firmly. The government and people have not good coorporation for seeking child protection. Some factors influence the law implementation, such as social factors which are poverty, gender discrimination, culture, education, globalization, and the housemaid agency. While legal factor is the law enforcement is not good. Bad treatment to a child labour as a housemaid can interfere his psychology. The child may be fearful, anxious, and unhappy. In fact, as a child in general, they should be treated according to their age, do not treated under pressure from employers. In terms of education, they work full a day, child labour as a housemaid do not have the opportunity to go to school or take part in courses. The employer sue the child to do a hazardous work without any initiative to protect their health as a child. |
