ANALYSIS OF VISCOSE RAYON FIBER DEMAND IN INDONESIA PERIOD JANUARY 2008 – AUGUST 2011

Abstract

Background of this research is focusing on the analyzing the viscose rayon fiber demand in Indonesia in purpose to give recommendation to the viscose rayon fiber industries and to the investor who want to start new business. The growth of textile industries is very high, which make demand of cotton as main raw material for textile come increase too. Cotton is a nature products or agriculture products which it depends on the crop season, place for growth and goverment regulations. Because of this condition, textile industries try to find other goods that can be a substitute for cotton. Viscose rayon fiber is a synthetic fiber developed by the human and technologies advances. Viscose rayon fiber is different from others synthetic fiber. Viscose rayon fiber not only can be complementary goods, but also can be substitution goods for cotton. From this research, the investor can learn that viscose rayon fiber is a very profitable investment opportunities. In this research, the research will use cotton price also viscose rayon fiber itself to measure the demand of viscose rayon fiber in Indonesia. Researcher is using descriptiveanalyticalmethod using SPSS 16.0 to analyze and interpret the data. The data of this research are price of cotton and viscose rayon fiber and viscose rayon fiber demand for total 44 months from January 2008 – August 2011. The result of this result of this result that price of cotton and viscose rayon fiber is very affected to the viscose rayon fiber demand in Indonesia. Even cotton price have significant affect, but viscose rayon fiber still a good opportunities because of price is more stable then cotton.
