PT. MNO is a pharmaceutical company in Indonesia, operating since 1976. On its
way, PT. MNO face a various problems and one of them is about the lead time in
General Pharmacy Solid (GPS). They want to reduce the lead time and their focus
is on the changeover time that takes 3 - 5 hours. SMED takes place in General
Pharmacy Solid area. There are 3 machines that become the priority which are
Machine press, Machine stripping 1, and Machine stripping 2. The strategy to
implement SMED can be implement by using analysis sheet, spaghetti diagram,
and action plan. Analysis sheet focus on the operator’s activities, spaghetti
diagram focus on the operator’s movements, action plan focus on the
improvement and standard work procedure focus on new standard work for two
operators. 5S can be implement with support from layout design. The benefit of
SMED and 5S implementation is different in every machine. Machine press
changeover activities are down from 58 to 26 with 42.78% total activities
removed and operator movements down from 24 to 4. Machine stripping 1
changeover activities are down from 63 to 31 with 44.05% total activities
removed and operator movements down from 16 to 8. Machine stripping 2
changeover activities are down from 38 to 24 with 29.18% total activities
removed and operator movements down from 16 to 8. 5S implementation makes
the production room more organized and facilitate operator work. |
