THE STUDY OF BAMBOO INDUSTRIES EMPLOYEE IN SIGODANG VILLAGE SIMALUNGUN NORTH SUMATERA

Abstract

Bamboo crafts are a good business opportunity due to the high demand from the domestic market. Bamboo crafts are the largest and easiest way of livelihood for the people of Sigodang village, apart from being able to improve the economy, they can also open jobs for the community which can be good business opportunities. This study aims to determine the development of woven bamboo handicraft industry from year to year in Sigodang Simalungun Village, to find out the factors that support the success and obstacles faced by craftsmen in developing the bamboo weaving industry inside, to find out the contribution of woven bamboo crafts to the community's economy and to determine how bamboo craftsmen can survive in the bamboo basket business in Sigodang Simalungun Village, North Sumatera. The research method was used qualitative approach which are Interview, Observation and Documentation in data collection techniques and using triangulation in data analysis. The results showed that bamboo craftsmen in Sigodang Village need collaboration with the government to foster an entrepreneurial spirit through seminars or discuss. Bamboo craftsmen benefit from production demand, but it is monotonous and must have a network outside the area to develop their basketry business and must cope with production and marketing demands.
