Abstract:
This thesis will discuss the Inter-Korea relations, development of DPRK Weapon of Mass Destruction and also military threat under the administration of Lee Myung Bak in 2008-2010. The tension in Korean Peninsula keep increasing since Lee Myung Bak put hard-line stance toward DPRK and continue with the underground nuclear test and also two military threats toward ROK that possessed by DPRK in 2010. The Inter-Korea relation is the worse condition compare to the previous president. This thesis will analyze on how ROK implemented the defense policy in order to respond the Weapons of Mass Destruction DPRK and also asymmetrical threat possessed by DPRK. From the analysis writer found that the military threat possessed by DPRK really impact toward the stability in Korean Peninsula. This thesis is using qualitative and data gathering as the research method. The theories that will be used are threat perception theory on how ROK perceive the DPRK threat, balance of power theory on the development of ROK military in order to protect its country from any threat and the last theory is defense policy.
