Abstract:
Esports (pronounced "e-sports") is a general term used to describe video game
competitions. Much like athletic sporting events, eSports games are often played
before live audiences and may be broadcast over the Internet as well. Esports
Indonesia governments in 2014 decided to participate on the growing industry by
creating esports legal institution to support the development of esports in the country
through IeSPA (Indonesia E-Sports Association). IeSPA is an organization made by
the government to accommodate the needs of esports in Indonesia to develop and
growth. The utilization of the organization for the government in the international
level seems to be questionable, looking back that esports still in debatable about
whether it is a sports or a recreational activity. The purpose of this research is to
explain how the implementation of IeSPA can support Indonesian esports at the
international stages. Based on the results of the research, many challenges are found
in the implementation phase of the association such as number of pro player, social
sceptics and low technology equipment. At the end of the results, the research
discover that the implementation of IeSPA in Indonesia to supporting esports is a
accurate move.
