Abstract:
In Indonesia, smoking behavior has become a bad habit that always done by society. So is the case in the neighborhood of Pondok Gede and surrounding areas. Indonesian society seems still reluctant to stop these bad habits. Appropriate mass communication can have an effect on stopping these bad habits, this is influenced by several factors, namely the human ability to receive information and human beliefs over their abilities. Bad habits will harm yourself and the surrounding community if not immediately addressed. The research was conducted in Pondok Gede, Indonesia. The questionnaire contains 28 statements distributed to 100 respondents selected using non probability sampling. Human Agency, Human Capabilities, Vicarious Learning, and Self-Efficacy were used in this study to measure communication the right mass. Statistical analysis was performed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 16.0 and used factor analysis methods that resulted in two dominant factors of proper mass communication in stopping smoking habits in Pondok Gede namely, Creative Message and Attraction mass communications delivered.
