Abstract:
After the collapsed of Soviet Union, the new international security system has been established with the domination of NATO that aim to establish the new security architecture in the Euro-Atlantic area with no dividing line between the West and the East. In order to achieve it, NATO begun the implementation its enlargement policy that included Russia sphere of interest. Yet, Russia Federation perceived NATO enlargement as the direct threat to its national security that would increase the presence of NATO in the near Russian Federation territory. This thesis will analyze the Russian Federation and NATO relations through the NATO enlargement policy and the annexation of Crimea (2008-2014).
The research was done in the period of December 2016-April 2017, employing qualitative method to construct narrative and analysis from various news sources, journal, books, official document and statement. Most of the research was done at Adam Kurniawan Library.
