Abstract:
The Syrian civil war was happened after the eruption of mass demonstrations demanding the reformation of government system responded with violent acts by the Syrian government under Bashar al-Assad administration. The Syrian civil war has attracted the international communities, due to the occurrence of various human rights violations. The involvement of United States allies in the region becomes the one of the main factors that drove United States to be involved in the Syrian civil war. The involvement of various conflicting parties in Syrian civil war, both domestic and international, especially those who support the Assad’s regime pose a greater challenge for United States to be involved and implement its foreign policy to respond the situation. The United States involvement in Syrian civil war aimed to promote the peace and stability of the region. The Syrian civil war itself, will not only affect the peace and stability in Syria, but will also affect its neighboring countries especially those whose considered as United States allies. This research is conducted to provide the analysis about the United States foreign policy implementation in the spheres of economy, diplomacy, and military as the United States chain-ganging strategy in response to the Syrian civil war which influenced by many driving factors. This research will also provide the United States national interest within its involvement in Syrian civil war. Neoclassical realism is used as the main theory of this research, accompanied by the foreign policy implementation and balance of power. This research was conducted from January until May 2017 and using the qualitative research method.
