It is very important to raise awareness about how people consume, especially considering
the recent waste problem, due to the lack of awareness that waste production habits are one of
the causes of climate change which is a serious problem experienced by the entire world's
population. Humans cannot be detached from the process of producing waste, but on the other
hand, there is still much room for improvement in the way waste is managed. In Indonesia, waste
is still not properly disposed of; without any sort of recycling mechanism, it frequently ends up
in a landfill. Overfilling dumps happened and is a factor in environmental contamination, which
has an impact on human health.
With rising trash production, a Zero Waste lifestyle, and the scarcity of landfill space, as
well as the fact that the problem of climate change is becoming more and more serious every
day, Trash to Treasure a project that includes increasing awareness of high waste production, a
Zero Waste lifestyle, and inspirations for citizens to produce waste into something that is useful
and valuable in order to contribute to the SDG's number 12. Which “responsible consumption and
production'', also target number 4.7 to “ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills
needed to promote sustainable development”. The outcome of this project is that it has been
successful in raising awareness of the zero waste lifestyle, and it has also been successful in
inspiring housewives to recycle domestic waste into new products in an easy manner. |
