Abstract:
In the era of globalization and the development of Industry 4.0, individuals are
required to acquire various skills in the rapidly evolving world of work. These
changes necessitate an ability to adapt and acquire a diverse set of competencies.
Universities play a vital role in equipping individuals with both technical and
theoretical cognitive abilities. Therefore, the thoughtful selection of one's field of
study, based on their interests and talents, significantly influences their future career
prospects. Despite its paramount importance, choosing a major during college
remains unfamiliar to many prospective students. This thesis explained about how
student’s of president university choosing a major that can be related to their carier
in the future.This decision is often influenced by a multitude of external factors and
the unique motivations of the individuals themselves. This thesis aims to delve into
the motivations and considerations that influence the selection of majors by
prospective students and current students alike, as well as how this choice impacts
their career trajectories. This research employs a qualitative approach, involving indepth interviews with several alumni who graduated from President University
between 2018 and 2019, in order to explore the relationship between the majors
they pursued during their studies and the trajectories of their careers after graduation
and The research took place from July 27 to August 5.
