The purpose of this thesis is to find out and to analyze more about how the North Korea’s nuclear development can influence Japan’s foreign policy and defense policy. North Korea has conducted several nuclear weapon tests and it is considered a serious threat in East Asia. To solve the problems, Six Party Talks has started in 2003, the talks often experienced a deadlock because North Korea had not satisfied with the existing agreement. To deal with the North Korea nuclear development, Japan continues to strengthen its defense cooperation with the U.S. This research uses the theory of realism, deterrence, arms race, foreign policy and defense policy. Materials and data for this thesis were obtained from Government’s official publications and releases, Official’s statements, journals, books of scholars, and related news. |
