BILATERAL RELATIONS BETWEEN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES AND INDONESIA THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SHEIKH ZAYED GRAND MOSQUE IN SOLO

Abstract

This research explores the strategic utilization of cultural diplomacy by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through the establishment of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo, Indonesia. Cultural diplomacy is a crucial tool for nations to shape their global image and foster international cooperation. The UAE's initiatives, particularly the construction of the mosque, exemplify its commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and promoting mutual understanding. Employing qualitative research methods, the study examines the motivations behind the UAE's cultural diplomacy efforts and assesses the impact of the mosque on the bilateral ties between Indonesia and the UAE. Key findings reveal that the mosque serves as a symbol of unity and collaboration, blending Emirati and Indonesian cultural elements to promote religious tolerance and moderation. Through educational programs and community outreach, the mosque facilitates dialogue and mutual respect among diverse faiths. Additionally, the mosque strengthens diplomatic ties while promoting economic and social development in Solo. The study underscores the long-term implications of the mosque for bilateral cooperation and sustainability, emphasizing its role as a beacon of peace and understanding.
