When opening a branch in foreign country, international companies need to send their employee as an expatriate for both knowledge transfer or internalization program. But it is not easy to run the expatriate program due the difference in culture which can lead to expatriate failure. Expatriate failure can deal high cost for the company and also bad progress on the knowledge transfer program. Therefore this study discussed the motivation of Japanese expatriates in Lippo Cikarang to find out the factors influencing their decision making to accept the international assignment to Lippo Cikarang.
In this study, researcher discussed the factors influencing the Japanese expatriates in their decision making to accept the international assignment in Lippo Cikarang based on a previous study of Eyad Aljubran (2009), so we can know what need to be improved in making the Japanese people stay motivated in accepting the international assignment to work in Lippo Cikarang. This study is a quantitative research which uses a multiple regression model to analyze the correlations of the independent variables towards dependent variable. Data collection uses self-constructed questionnaire that was distributed to 90 Japanese expatriates that living and working in Lippo Cikarang area.
Based on the result from this research, researcher founds that location attractiveness & career promotion and benefits offered have a positive significance relationship with the motivation of Japanese expatriates in accepting the international assignment to Lippo Cikarang. Cultural Intelligence doesn’t have a positive significance relationship with the motivation in accepting the international assignment. |
