dc.description.abstract Nadya Kalya Komala, 016201400111, The Strategies of Germany’s Cultural Diplomacy trough Goethe-Institut in Indonesia (2013-2016) This thesis was based on the various ways in practicing diplomacy. One of the way of practicing diplomacy is trough culture. Culture is believed to have the ability to embrace public with ease. Culture nearly touch each aspects of diplomacy starts from the ideas in which the players choose and try to exchange information into how that attempt of communication is understand by the foreign public. Analyzing the strategies of Germany’s cultural diplomacy that has been done in Indonesia trough Germany’s very own cultural institutes called as Goethe-Institut from 2013-2016. Goethe-Institut is Germany’s legitimate body in handling the promotion of Germany’s culture for the foreign public in this case is Indonesia. This thesis is using the qualitative research method by examining various social settings and actors who take a part in the setting as well as doing literature review and collecting reliable data from government publication and reliable source in internet. This thesis aims to know what are the efforts done by the Goethe-Institut in practicing their cultural diplomacy in Indonesia. This thesis is focused on the initiative from the German Government and carried out by Goethe-Institut called as PASCH (School: Partner for the Future). The actions done by Goethe-Institut in executing this initiative are by providing German language teachers and experts in German language to assist the schools partner, teaching materials as well as the technical equipment to support the learning process as well as providing a scholarships and student exchange to Germany. en_US
