Waste is an environmental problem that is the concern of everyone, increasing the volume of waste every year produced from the source. President University is one of the source that still use the old paradigm in waste management makes President University continues to be one source that can increase the volume of waste that will be disposed of to landfill. This is reinforced by the increasing number of students each year. Therefore, as a role model from education level and as an agent of change for the future, proper waste management is needed. Based on that, the objective of this research is to find out the waste generated and source of the waste generation also the waste composition at President University to make waste management ideas based on the existing conditions. This research also wants to identify student behavior in managing the waste have influenced by interest, perception, and awareness. This research uses quantitative methods. The sampling method that is implemented in this research based on SNI 19-3964-1994 standard. While for behavior, questionnaires using Likert scale. Based on the result of sampling, the amount of waste generated is 238 gr/day/person with a total of 14% compostable waste, 31% rcyclable waste, and 55% residue. The alternative treatment idea for organic waste is composting or anaerobic digestion tank. Then, for recyclable waste, cooperation with third parties to sell it. And for the residue is transport to the landfill. While the result of student behavior in managing the waste can be concluded that awareness has a significant influence on behavior, but interest and perception have no significance to behavior. |
