THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INDONESIA CULTURAL DIPLOMACY THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF INDONESIA CULTURAL HOUSE PROGRAM IN EAST TIMOR (2014-2017)

Abstract

Thesis Title: The Implementation of Indonesia Cultural Diplomacy through the Establishment of Indonesia Cultural House Program in East Timor (2014-2017) After the separation of Indonesia and East Timor, Indonesia and East Timor agreed to build a new relation in which will lead to a better relation between both nations. One of the step that been took by Indonesia and East Timor was creating the Komisi Kebenaran dan Persahabatan (KKP). One of the point in the recommendations of Komisi Kebenaran dan Persahabatan is to strengthen the relation in the cooperation of social and culture between Indonesia and East Timor. In order to bring this objective to realization, Indonesia government under the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono created a Presidential Decree No.72 year 2011. In the Presidential Decree No.72 year 2011 one of the point mentioned that the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republic of Indonesia in which have the responsibility to develop the Indonesia Cultural House in East Timor. Aside from the recommendations of KKP, the establishment of Indonesia Cultural House in East Timor as well seen as Indonesia soft power and public diplomacy that been made in the form of promotions of the Indonesian culture to the East Timor. Therefore, through this program Indonesia aimed to promote its culture to East Timor and build a stronger and deeper relation through this Indonesia Cultural House.
