dc.description.abstract Abu Rijal El Jihadi, International Relations 2014, President University Thesis Title: The Implementation of US Democracy Promotion in Egypt during Barack Obama’s Second Term Administration (2013 – 2017) Democracy promotion has been an important element of US foreign policy for decades. This is because the promotion of democracy helps the US to advance its national interest. This is also done by the US to advance its national interest towards Egypt as US ally in the Middle East region. US national interests towards Egypt include the supporting democratic transition in Egypt, the enforcement of democratic values and human rights, economic stabilization, military cooperation and regional security and stability, including the Israeli-Arab world conflict as well as counter terrorism in the Middle East. In its application, President Obama prioritized to maintain strategic cooperation with Egypt, support the democratic transition, and encourage Egypt to uphold the values of human rights. This study uses a descriptive analysis method that aims to analyze the implementation of US democracy promotion in Egypt during Barack Obama second’s term administration by using political, economy and military instrument. en_US
