RUSSIA RISE TO POWER: RUSSIA’S MILITARY EXPANSION TO BLACK SEA REGION IN SOLIDIFYING RUSSIA’S SPHERE OF INFLUENCE POST-ANNEXATION OF CRIMEA (2014-2019)

Abstract

Russia's action on the Annexation of Crimea brought the Black Sea to the attention of International Actors and in the coming years has revitalized its military effort in the region. The annexation is condemned by most International Actors mainly from a party with interest namely NATO. The tension continues to rise when Russia continues to militarize the region despite the demand for the return of Crimea and peace, until today Crimea still part of Russia's territory and the military development based on the military strategy is ongoing. This thesis aims to present the implementation of Russia's military strategies to the development of Russia's military presence in the region leading to Russia securing its Sphere of Influence
