Abstract:
The low quality and investment of infrastructure in Indonesia, especially
in the urban sanitation sector, has an impact on many sectors in Indonesia,
including the economy, education and health. This can have an impact on sluggish
foreign investment in Indonesia due to unpreparedness in infrastructure. One of
the things that can increase the level of sanitation in Indonesia is to establish
cooperation between countries. Australia is one of the countries that is actively
providing foreign assistance to Indonesia. With the principle of complex
interdependence and foreign aid methods, Australia is working with Indonesia to
tackle problems in the field of infrastructure within the Indonesia Australia
Infrastructure Partnership (KIAT). Through KIAT, Australia is active in providing
assistance in the form of funds and assistance to various infrastructure sectors in
Indonesia, such as: road development, gender equality and social inclusiveness
(GESI), to sanitation. One of the subprograms in the field of sanitation is the
Australia Indonesia Infrastructure Grant for Municipal Sanitation (sAIIG) which
is an output-based grant in order to stimulate urban sanitation development in
Indonesia. SAIIG is given to qualified local governments, one of which is
Yogyakarta City. This thesis aims to find the contribution of sAIIG to Yogyakarta
urban sanitation in the 2013-2018 period. Using books, journals, and official
government documents, this thesis finds sAIIG's contribution to Yogyakarta's
urban sanitation in the form of building a House Connection that functions as a
domestic wastewater treatment plant. Yogyakarta succeeded in completing the
construction of House Connections for 5 years with 110% SR installed and
78.34% verified channels. In the future, it is expected that sAIIG can be continued
in various regions in Indonesia equally.
