Indonesia is known to be the world 5th greenhouse gas emitter and deforestation is known to be the primary cause. As the amount of carbon waste keeps increasing over the time, of the ways to reduce carbon emissions is with the existence of mangrove forests which is knows as carbon sinks. One of the biggest mangrove forest areas is located in Bali, unfortunately the existence of it were threatened due to reclamation project surrounding the area and it emerge protests and rejection from civil society and it also violates the Presidential Regulation No. 122 of 2012 concerning Reclamation in Coastal Areas and Small Islands and Presidential Regulation No. 73 of 2012 on Mangrove Ecosystem Management National Strategy. In this research, the theory of environmental governance is utilized in order to analyze, and determine the implementation of said theory in terms of mangrove protection in the issue of reclamation project in Tanjung Benoa, Bali. |
