dc.description.abstract Various Illegal activities such as Illegal Fishing, Human Trafficking, Smuggling of Illegal Weapons, Drug Trafficking, and even to disputes in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the North Natuna Sea by China made the Navy strengthen their defense strategies to secure all Indonesian waters. Responding to the incident in 2017 President Joko Widodo changed the name of the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone to the North Natuna Sea, this was done to warn and remind foreign ships not to take over natural resources in the North Natuna Sea. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries together with the Navy seeks to secure the North Natuna Sea from destructive and detrimental actions to the Indonesian state by tightening the policy of diving foreign vessels that are still carrying out illegal fishing and any illegal activities that occur in North Natuna. This thesis will explain in detail the tasks, roles and functions of the Navy in securing Indonesia's Exclusive Economic Zone in North Natuna from 2014 - 2019 in accordance with article 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army. From this thesis, the author will provide detailed analysis data related to activities carried out by the Indonesian Navy in safeguarding the Exclusive Economic Zone in North Natuna related to Illegal Fishing and the problem of the Nine dash-line dispute by China. The data obtained by the author comes from the Indonesian white paper, academic books that analyze illegal fishing and nine dash-lines, journals, official news from 2014 - 2019, and the official website of the Indonesian National Army, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and Ministry of Information and Communication.
