XI JINPING’S EFFORTS TO INTEGRATE TAIWAN INTO THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA THROUGH NORMALIZING THE PRC-USA RELATIONS (2014-2019)

Abstract

Sino-US relation is very complicated from the perspective of China ,because there is the Taiwan factor, because Taiwan has the special relations with US, so the normalization of Sino-US relation is important for China to integrate Taiwan. This thesis has focused on the rule of Xi Jinping’s leadership of Sino-US relation, which also explained the Sino-US relations before Xi Jinping took office on 2013. The one China principle is not only the political foundation of Sino-US relations, but also the cornerstone of the Chinese government's Taiwan policy. As this thesis points out, the adjustment of US policy and the normalization of Sino-US relations have also provided the necessary external conditions for the transformation and development of cross-strait relations. So we can see that a close relation with USA in the area of trade, culture and education has helped in integrating Taiwan into PRC. This research is conducted from September of 2019 to January of 2020.This research utilizes the qualitative method ,to elaborate the data and theory into the thesis. Sources used in this research includes books, journals, websites and news articles.
