Abstract:
In general, students spend several hours in the library in a week with different kind of purposes such as for exploring study research, finding class materials and references, doing school task, reading news, or reading some fictional work. Libraries become the important cornerstones and a center of information of an institution, especially for the university. However, students are getting busier nowadays, when they went to the library, they need to search from an aisle to another in order to find the significant one moreover, there is no assurance the book will exist in that library. Even if they get the book, they will still need to queue in the administration to borrow the book. Supposed if they borrow the book and for the due date of returning, they forget to return it then he would need to pay the fines. The payment of the fine will take much time considering they need to fill some form then pay the fines. This long process is holding students back from visiting the library and prefer using their phone or laptop in finding data on the internet.
This thesis provides the design and development of an application for a self-service library (named AutoBiblio) using barcode and QR code scanning for borrowing, returning and topping balance for fine payment. This application has history detail (on-going loan, fine, and completed loan) for general user and reporting of history of every transaction in admin side. It will simplify the long flow of every transaction in the library, paying fines, and getting user’s history of loan.
