Abstract:
In the era of digital transformation, classroom is no longer the only place to learn
anymore. A lot of children are more likely to have and use mobile phone lately. Thus,
mobile phone can be used to replace the traditional method of learning to write for
children. By simply use their finger or stylus pen to write on screen, teachers or parents
are no longer need to check their works manually on the answer sheets. It will help the
children to improve their writing skills unconsciously.
This thesis will discuss about an Android mobile application using handwriting
recognition. The purpose of this thesis is to help children learning to write in an easy and
fun way. There are three categories available for children to choose such as numeric and
alphabets (lowercase and uppercase). The accuracy score will be evaluated using
Convolutional Neural Networks method and will be shown on screen after the children
finish writing.
