Abstract:
Freelancing is a great way to earn extra income for the younger generation.
However, starting a career as a freelancer is a tough thing to do, especially when the
freelancer has no experience yet. Therefore, this research was conducted to help the entrylevel freelancers getting their first clients.
This research develops an Android application named Favor. Favor helps entrylevel freelancers to get their first clients. This application assigns a entry-level freelancer
to a nearby client using GPS. The location of both the freelancer and the client are marked
inside this application. Thus, this application makes collaboration easier by encouraging
both a client and a freelancer to meet with each other to discuss about the work.
Favor application will serve as the solution to the difficulty of entry-level
freelancers to get their first clients. It will also provide small business owners to hire a
freelancer easily. The users of Favor will be provided a choice to become a freelancer or a
client. The clients will be able to assign a nearby freelancer. To be assigned by a client, a
freelancer is only required to open the application. Both the client and the freelancer will
be able to locate each other, allowing them to hold a rendezvous. The client will be able to
cancel the deal if the assigned freelancer does not meet his/her criteria. Otherwise, suppose
the client is satisfied with the work of the freelancer, the freelancer will be able to confirm
the payment. The payment confirmation will be conducted by the freelancer using the
camera of his/her mobile device, which utilizes the OCR.
