THE IMPLEMENTATION OF REPUBLIC OF KOREA SAEMAUL UNDONG RURAL DEVELOPMENT AS A NEW PARADIGM UNDER FRAMEWORK OF THE UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME PILOT PROJECT IN UGANDA (2015-2017)

Abstract

Saemaul Undong is a term of Korean economic development system aimed to decrease poverty and increase the productivity in rural area which is compatible to global development issue. Having a similar goal with the ROK, both UNDP and ROK in 2014 launched a rural development project adapted from Korea’s Saemaul Undong principles named Inclusive and Sustainable New Communities (ISNC) Pilot Project which targeted developing and least develop countries specifically Uganda. This research is using qualitative method in order to analyze the important of Saemaul Undong as Korean people nation culture to become a new rural development paradigm in Inclusive and Sustainable New Communities Pilot Project in Uganda since 2015-2017 through data collection from sources such as books, journals, press releases and official reports from UNDP, Republic of Korea, and UNDP in Uganda. Therefore, the conduct of this project was achieved through enhancing the local development, generating local resources, and improving sustainability innovations that impact Uganda local communities in increasing the productivity in its rural area.
