Malaysia is one of the members of the ASEAN community whose diplomatic relations are
very close to Indonesia today. This was seen when the two countries had various bilateral
relations in the economic field. One of the tools that they believe can provide their respective
benefits in their economic fields that are known to the international community, about the
Immigrant Workforce. Indonesia is a country that has sent so many of its immigrant workers
to Malaysia legally and illegally. From the signing of economic activities it does not rule out
the possibility that Indonesian workers in Malaysia often face a handful of problems from
year to year related to document problems, unpaid salaries, and human trafficking. Where,
these issues become main concern of both countries to handle. This research uses qualitative
methods, so the data mainly would be from the official government reports of Indonesia and
Malaysia, books, journals, official sites and official news. This research is going to relate
those government actions and then will see how effective does those rules and laws
implementation toward migrant workers right protection since 2014 until 2017. The
researcher then decide to take focus on these government authority where put the Indonesian
representatives government (KJRI Johor Bahru) cooperates with Malaysian authorized
government regarding migrant workers, also in cooperation with Malaysian NGOs in this
case are Malaysia Trade Unions Confederation and Tenaganita, and last but not mean least
Indonesia in cooperation with International Labor Organization.. |
