SELF-REPRESENTATION OF RACHEL VENNYA ON INSTAGRAM: A DRAMATIC ANALYSIS

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate self representation of Rachel Vennya represented through her narrative post on Instagram. The researcher utilized Dramatic analysis approach by Kenneth Burke who uses Pentad elements in presenting the findings. Pentad Analysis is a main method of Dramatism Theory used to analyze the use of symbols in communication to identify self-representation of people. The result shows the self-representation of Rachel Vennya represented on her Instagram is a generous, family oriented and religious figure which is found through the five elements of Pentad Analysis which consists of agent, act, agency, scene and purpose that are interrelated. From this research, the researcher can find out on how to build the self-representation of oneself using symbol.
