TRIGGERING OR RESOLVING PROBLEM?: A STUDY OF LAMBE TURAH'S INSTAGRAM AS A GOSSIP ACCOUNT

Abstract

This research employed a qualitative research which focuses on analyzing ‘Lambe Turah’ gossip account on Instagram. The purpose of this research is to investigate what Lambe Turah provides to its followers that can possibly trigger or resolve problems and how the account triggers or resolves problems. By using in-depth interviews and observations, the data was collected from seven informants who are Lambe Turah team and the followers of Lambe Turah. In addition, the researcher also used documents and other sources to support and strengthen the primarily data. The researcher utilized qualitative descriptive approach in presenting the findings. By conducting this research, the researcher found that Lambe Turah has triggered problems instead of resolving problems by providing the posts about celebrities starting from the post regarding celebrity scandals, celebrity who is cheating, a female celebrity who became a husband’s stealer (Pelakor), celebrity divorce to other posts regarding celebrities’ problems. The problems were triggered from three main factors such as the information (pictures and videos), the captions, and the comments section.
