Abstract:
In this fast-paced demand consumer chain, the manufacturer has to go even faster in order to follow the stream. A strong purchasing monitoring system is required to ensure the accuracy of material delivery time and be able to provide justification for production continuity. This study discussed the information flow of material purchasing to understand the importance of PO Material Control in managing the material. The study took place in PT. X, a manufacturing company of plastic packaging from July 2021 to October 2021. PO Material Control is used to carry out material purchasing management activities carried out from the PO release stage until the material process is received at the factory. This system does not work well due to deficiencies in the system in the form of unclear instructions, unclear purpose, disorganized structure, and lack of supervision. It has a negative impact on the management of material purchases. The author employed a System Development Life Cycle approach to identifying and conducting the improvement of the PO material control system. The improved system provides organized visualization of inputs, displaying clear objectives in the form of information outputs, and refining the flowchart in utilizing the system so that it has better supervision. Through the system that has been improved, users become more understanding in running the system so that the system can be used according to its purpose, which is monitoring material purchases. The system also provides an output report that can be used for operations and planning for future material purchases.
