Humanity has experienced many wars, from a small war where only one or two countries are involved or a big war where almost every country participates. There are many reasons why the country decides to go to war. In medieval times, the common reason to start a war is religious beliefs, scarce resources, honors, and state politics, where they assert sovereignty in what they believe to be rightful. Even now, in the modern era after World War 2, wars are still happening. War in Afghanistan, Iraq War, The Syria conflict, The Yemen conflict, and the Global Coalition against ISIS. And like how people have engaged in countless wars, they have also done a lot to protect the peace. When the topic of keeping peace and fighting a war is raised, the first thing that comes to mind is male soldiers. In reality, the involvement of women and girls in the military is more common than people think. The demand for logistics, food, nursing, intelligence, combat, and suicide missions is higher during wartime. Their reasons to join the military are varied, for example, forced recruitment, abuse at home, a feeling of being wanted, and patriotism. This study will explore their role during French Revolution to achieve peace. This study will also analyze what the women peacekeepers have done to protect and promote peace and the risk for women's participation in armed conflict. The author would like to conclude the research by saying that despite the high risk of women's involvement in the military, they are still necessary to protect the current peace. |
