dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study is to apply classical cutting techniques based on the visual approach. Can the use of Classical Cutting Editing Theory convey the message that the character wants to convey to the audience? Asa Dibalik's Garam The film is set in the history of the 2000s, so the classic cutting technique is well suited to use in this film to clarify, dramatize or emphasize for the purpose of increasing drama and emphasizing emotion. Intercut, Cross Cutting, Match Cutting, Cut Away, Parallel Cutting,these are the techniques that will develop dramatic aspects in the film. Classical cutting is therefore a style of editing that functions to clarify, dramatize, or emphasize to achieve the desired dramatic intensity and emotional emphasis. Classic cutting refer to cuts for dramatic intensity and emotional emphasis rather than just continuity. In general, the use of classic cutting theory to convey the message in movies, especially documentaries, so that the message of the film reaches the audience. The use of classical cutting theory used in filmmaking should be combined with other theories if the documentary is to show world events, especially on a large scale, so that the message of the film is conveyed. specifically and perfectly conveyed to the public and also to the filmmakers. en_US
