dc.description.abstract Editing is a very important process in making films. Editing helps convey a message to the audience through pieces of scenes that have been arranged into a unified story. Editors try to utilize one element in editing, namely match cuts. A match cut is often used to maintain continuity in the scene so that shots shown in movies look continuous. Match cut itself is a very important editing technique in film production because it can help connect different scenesor situations in a story, show changes in time or location, and create relationships between characters and objects in the story. Therefore, the editor was interested in taking the theory sparked by Edwin S. Porter and Pudkovin who continued G.W. Griffith's work on three-match cuts. To transition to differences in space and time in the film titled "Kala" to create a change in atmosphere between one scene to the next. en_US
